I sat down again with researcher and author Debbie Lerman (The Deep State Goes Viral), who always teaches me something new and opens my mind. She argues that the COVID resistance wasn't a partisan movement, but a true populist civil rights movement concerned with freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, and freedom of movement — all of them gutted by states of emergency that remain legally in place to this day. Even more disturbing is that those same legal frameworks are now being quietly expanded and repurposed under new states of emergency declared by the current administration. Debbie and I dig into why the medical freedom coalition was always a target for fracture, how the MAHA movement functioned as a pressure-release valve for genuine populist anger, and why entering the system even with the best of intentions, may be the fastest way to lose your voice and leverage. We had a broad conversation about power, selective resistance, and why it is crucial to keep fighting for constitutional rights precisely when "your team" has their hands on the levers of power.
